Claudius - sketch

King Claudius of Denmark...

Just a sketch, I wanted to draw something more detailed, but for now this is it. I'm reading Updike's "Claudius and Gertrude" right now, perhaps I'll get inspired into drawing new, better Claudius.

But that don't mean I don't like this one. That's how he looks in my mind, well, I suppose he looks completely different for many of you. I'm glad he has somewhat tired and exasperated eyes on my drawing, perhaps I'm overinterpreting, but I like to think that Claudius didn't expected all those troubles when he did what he did. Then things started to get out of hand and he couldn't control them anymore. There is something comical in it.

Drawn with reference picture of eeerr... of Claudius in fact, one that I'd really like to see myself, but don't know how to get a copy of the film. This is link, there be pictures and summary and a lot of spoilers. I like how the story was changed. ^^
